“Cathares”

Cathars, castles, inquisition, bonfires… these are just a few terms and images linked to the Albigensian Crusade (1209-1229).
This unprecedented exhibition, designed by the Saint-Raymond Museum, explores the events of the Crusade and the question of the “Cathar" heresy, through the ongoing debates among historians. Nearly 300 objects are displayed across the two venues hosting the exhibition, the Saint-Raymond Museum and the Couvent des Jacobins, including rare archival documents, archaeological objects, artworks, and high-quality historical reconstruction materials (costumes, weaponry).
Kaléo has designed the sound, digital, and interactive devices to enhance the visitor experience: a sound fiction retracing a trial, a multi-screen tactile application on the origin of the term “Cathars", 3D animations, and various tactile devices.
This exhibition is recognized as being of national interest by the State (Ministry of Culture), which provides exceptional financial support.
